Lothians 6th Monitor Farm meeting
The next Lothians monitor farm meeting on 19 December will take the focus off farm, exploring supply chain relationships and marketing.
Wigtownshire-based dairy farmer and Chairman of Milk Supply Association (MSA) Rory Christie will lead a session on developing closer relationships with the supply chain, drawing on his experience setting up a producer group with processor Lactalis.
Monitor farmers Bill Gray and Peter Eccles will also update the group on how things have gone at Prestonhall and Saughland Farms since the last meeting
After lunch James Bolesworth from CRM Agri Commodities will discuss grain marketing. He has been working with Bill Gray on how to reduce the risk in grain marketing, and the session will cover the marketing process, managing forward selling and managing risk.
The meeting on 19 December at Juniperlea Inn, Pathhead, will begin with tea and coffee from 10am. Lunch will be provided and the meeting is expected to finish by 2pm. All are welcome and the event is free.
