Processors

Scotch Beef, Scotch Lamb and Specially Selected Pork must be processed in a plant which is an approved member of the Specially Selected Scotch Processor Assurance Scheme.
As a Quality Meat Scotland Assured Processor member, plants must meet rigorous standards of hygiene, best practice, and, above all, must demonstrate the ability to identify and trace product effectively through their production systems.
The Quality Meat Scotland Assured Processor Scheme meets EN45011 standards and independent assessors inspect member plants three times per year. Those audits are over and above the statutory requirements laid down by the Meat Hygiene Service, and are constantly being updated to meet customer requirements.
Current membership stands at 30 members and this comprises all the major abattoirs and cuttings plants in Scotland. Collectively this group is responsible for over 80% of the Scottish kill and will supply a range of outlets including leading multiple retailers, secondary wholesalers, independent butchers and caterers.
All products bearing the Scotch Beef and Lamb or Specially Selected Pork rosette, must have been processed by an Assured Processor.
Changes in membership may take place periodically, and information on this website will be updated on a regular basis.
