RSS Feed Information

What is an RSS feed?
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a technology which simplifies and improves the process of reading the very latest information on this site.
Our RSS feed contains the latest headlines of recently published news stories, which are sent directly to subscribed users' desktops as soon as the feed is published. This means that you can see the latest news items as soon as they appear, and without even having to visit our website.
What do I need?
To subscribe to our RSS feed, you need a special kind of program called a news reader. This is a piece of software that checks your subscriptions and collects any new articles that have been added.
It is now common for your web browser to provide the functionality required to read feeds, but you can instead use one of the many dedicated applications which are available, or there are several excellent web-based offerings too (which are particularly useful if you prefer not to be tied to one computer).
See the table on this page for some links to the most commonly used news readers currently available.
How do I subscribe to the feed?
Our RSS feed is highlighted by the use of the standard feed icon, as shown here:

Your choice of news reader will affect the method by which you add the feed to your subscription list, but often it is simply a case of clicking the icon to start subscribing.
Many web browsers (including Firefox, Opera, Safari and Internet Explorer 7), will display the feed icon when you visit a page that offers content via RSS - which can make finding and adding new feeds much easier.
For more detailed instructions on working with feeds, please refer to the documentation for your chosen news reader.
