Stylish New Scotch Beef Guide to Inspire and Inform

Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) has produced a stylish new Scotch Beef PGI guide to inform and inspire consumers about the brand, Scotland’s favourite food.

The full-colour glossy publication aims to inform consumers about what sets Scotch Beef apart from all other beef and highlights all the reasons why they should choose to purchase and serve Scotch Beef.

The 140 page book is packed with delicious Scotch Beef recipes and highlights why this exceptional red meat is guaranteed to come from animals born and reared only on Scottish farms which are quality assured and make animal welfare a priority.

Laurent Vernet, Head of Marketing at QMS said: “One of the main aims of the new publication is to ensure that when consumers see the Scotch Beef PGI label in supermarkets, butcher’s shops, or restaurants, they know why they can be confident that the meat they are buying is of the highest quality.”

Mr Vernet said the book, which is being distributed to food writers and chefs throughout the UK as well as at events and through competitions, contains information which is of value for people with a wide range of cooking skills and knowledge.

“It takes time to understand and recognise the different cuts of Scotch Beef PGI that are available and the new guide provides information on how to prepare and cook them perfectly.

“Whether it is steaks for two, a roast for ten or clever ways to use any leftovers, this book will guide you through what you really need to know.”

This book has been produced by QMS, the public body responsible for helping the Scottish red meat sector promote Scotch Beef PGI. To be sold under the Scotch Beef brand, beef must have been produced from cattle which have been quality assured as part of a scheme which is one of the longest-running in the world.

This quality assurance scheme, which celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2015, covers a wide range of aspects of production from the farm where an animal is produced to the feed it eats, haulage, auction markets and processors.
