Privacy Statement
This page explains how www.qmscotland.co.uk, which is managed by Quality Meat Scotland (QMS), uses any information you give to us, and the ways in which we protect your privacy.

The Data Protection Act
Under the Data Protection Act 1998, we have a legal duty to protect any information we collect from you. We use leading technologies to safeguard your data, and keep strict security standards to prevent any unauthorised access to it. We do not pass on your details to any third party unless you give us permission to do so.

What information do we collect?
We collect four kinds of information from visitors to www.qmscotland.co.uk: Subscriptions to QMS email updates, Access Request details to the Assured Farmers Directory as well as site usage information, from session cookies and log files.

Subscribe to email updates
If you opt to subscribe to email updates from the www.qmscotland.co.uk website, the information we collect is: Your name, location and email address. This information will only be used for notifying you periodically about QMS news updates and upcoming events.

A copy of this information is kept securely by QMS and our technology supplier, Ednet and will be held for the lifetime of the website, or until you decide to unsubscribe or inform QMS otherwise. Your personal details will not be shared with any other party. This information is also stored on back-up tapes to avoid loss of data.

Access Request
When you request Access to the Assured Farmers Directory, the information we collect is: Your name, email address, telephone number and company/organisation name.

When you request access to the Assured Farmers Directory, an email is sent to Scottish Food Quality Certification (SFQC) in order to issue you with a username and password allowing you access to the Directory. A copy of this information is kept securely by SFQC and will be held until such time you inform QMS otherwise. This information will only be used to allow us to manage access requests to the Directory. This information is also stored on back-up tapes to avoid loss of data.


Site usage information

Log files
Log files allow us to record visitors' use of the website. Ednet puts together log file information from all our visitors, which we use to make changes to the layout of the site and to the information in it, based on the way that visitors move around and interact with it. Log files do not contain any personal information.
