As Accountable Officer for QMS, I am responsible to the Scottish Government for safeguarding all funds falling within the stewardship of the organisation. I am the link between the direction set by the Board and the implementation of its strategies by making sure the executive team delivers the activities necessary for QMS to successfully achieve its remit.

Kirsty McCormack

Office Coordinator

As Office Coordinator, my role is to support all departments at QMS by providing an efficient and effective administration service. This includes being the first point of contact at reception, responsibility for office equipment and IT, maintenance of databases and organising travel, accommodation and meeting arrangements.

Carol McLaren

Director of Marketing & Communications

My role involves leading on the planning, delivery and evaluation of all marketing and communications activities and wider corporate and industry communications, undertaken by the Marketing & Comms team.  My remit also covers QMS's health & education activity and communicating the work of our industry development and economic services teams. Issues management is another key aspect of the role.

Suzie Carlaw

Marketing Controller

I am responsible for leading the GB marketing activity behind the Scotch Beef PGI, Scotch Lamb PGI and Specially Selected Pork brands. I am also responsible for the commissioning of consumer research and segmentation work to ensure QMS identify and understand the target audiences for the brands. I work closely with GB retailers and utilising marketing techniques, ensure campaigns are successfully delivered for the red meat industry in Scotland.  I have held Chartered Marketer status since September 2006

Maggie Bennett

Communications Specialist

My role focuses on the effective communication of QMS Industry Development activities and messages to improve the efficiency of farmers and others working in the Scottish red meat industry. I am responsible for producing QMS's quarterly 'Livestock +' magazine, as well as a range of Industry Development events and publications, online content, videos and awards.

Graeme Sharp

Marketing Executive

My role involves providing support with the UK marketing activity undertaken behind the three brands – Scotch Beef PGI, Scotch Lamb PGI and Specially Selected Pork.I also manage the Scotch Butchers Club – including awards and competitions, promotions and campaigns and social media activity and take a key role in public sector food procurement liaison.

Jennifer Robertson

Health & Education Manager

As a registered dietitian, I am responsible for many of the nutrition and health related issues concerning QMS and the red meat industry. Much of my time is spent visiting schools, educating pupils about eating red meat as part of a healthy balanced diet. I also work with the teams in QMS on projects with a nutrition or health focus.

Mairi Sutherland

Health and Education Executive

My role in QMS is to provide up-to-date information on current health topics regarding the consumption of red meat. Part of my job is also educating children and young people about the role of nutrition in health and the importance of including red meat as part of a healthy balanced diet.

Communications and PR Manager

My role involves working on all aspects of corporate and consumer communications, including media, websites and social media. I lead on the PR activity behind the Scotch Beef PGI, Scotch Lamb PGI and Specially Selected Pork brandsI draft press releases, features and other content for the media and organise photography and videography in support of our consumer-facing PR activity.

My primary role is to help Scottish pig producers to improve efficiency. I manage the Pig Business Network which covers Pig Monitor Farms, Pig Satellite Groups and provision of Agrosoft WinPig production software. I also have responsibility for all QMS pig health projects.

Director of Economic Services

I lead the economics team working on policy impact analysis and providing market information and other data to help businesses plan for the future. In particular we monitor developments in CAP, world trade, and climate change policies as well as looking at future supply patterns and providing enterprise information from which producers can benchmark their businesses.

Iain Macdonald

Senior Economics Analyst

Each week I collate industry data on prices and supply for the agricultural media. It is my job to update the market prices and graphs on the website and provide other members of the QMS team with the data they need for presentations and meetings. I also analyse the global economic conditions which have an influence on the operating environment of the Scottish red meat sector.

Suzanne Woodman

Director of Brands Integrity

I am responsible for contract management and operation of the six QMS assurance schemes in our whole chain assurance programme and for leading the schemes’ strategic development. My role also involves developing the brands licensing scheme and monitoring and protecting brands integrity.

Jakob True

Export Development Manager - Nordic countries

Jakob has worked for major marketing accounts within Sweden and Denmark, latterly with the Green Seed Group. He is the main point of contact in the Nordic countries and is responsible for overseeing and implementing all QMS activities there. The part-funded, fixed-term post is supported by the Scottish Government.

 

Peter Toholt

Export Development Manager - Germany

Peter has considerable experience of the European red meat market, having previously worked as product manager for SOPEXA responsible for marketing, sales promotion and communication for meat and meat products. Peter's activities are split between SDI and QMS to develop the German food and drink market. The part-funded, fixed-term post is supported by the Scottish Government.
