Scotch Beef PGI is whole chain assured beef from Scotland. In a nutshell, Scotch Beef PGI is from specific animals that are sourced from selected Scottish farms, adopting best practice which includes animal welfare and natural production methods.
PGI stands for Protected Geographical Indication. It’s an EU scheme to protect and promote high quality traditional and regional food products unique to a geographic area. Scotch Beef has long held this coveted PGI status.
When you see the Scotch Beef PGI logo, you can be confident that the beef was born, reared and processed in Scotland and held whole life quality assurance.
What does QMS do to promote Scotch Beef PGI?
Our strategy is developed in consultation with the industry via our Scotch Beef Marketing Strategy Group. This group meets at least twice a year and represents the Scottish beef industry’s views.
We have a presence in the GB marketplace all year round within multiple retailers, wholesalers, independent retailers and foodservice outlets. Our marketing activities are focused on supporting sales as well as brand awareness of Scotch Beef PGI among consumers.
We have at least one bespoke marketing campaign per annum which usually includes outdoor poster sites, adverts in key consumer magazines and newspapers, online marketing as well as consumer sampling activities.
