Butchers from across Scotland have been recognised for their skills and progression in the Scottish Craft Butchers Training Awards.

The awards which are in their fifth year are sponsored by Quality Meat Scotland's Scotch Butchers Club and the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA). The presentation of the awards took place at the AGM of the Scottish Craft Butchers on Wednesday 24th November 2021 in Dundee. Chief Executive of QMS, Alan Clarke was one of the key speakers at the event alongside Scotland’s National Chef, Gary McLean and Regional Coordinator of the National Sheep Association, Grace Reid. Alan Clarke, Chief Executive of Quality Meat Scotland, said: “We were delighted to support the Scottish Craft Butchers Training Awards this year and our congratulations go to all the winners and finalists. “The awards play a valuable role in recognising young people's skills, dedication, and talent in developing their butchery skills. Special mention must go to Ariane Bennett from D H Robertson, our Scotch Butcher Club Ambassador, who was awarded the SCQF level 6 award, and Grace Smith from Scotch Butcher Club member, Hugh Black, and Son, who picked up the Xtra Mile Winner award. Every entry received reflects the industry's passion and commitment, and we're thrilled that some of the best butchers in the country are being recognised for the important work they do."
