Butchers bank on al-fresco dining

With forecasters predicting a long, hot summer this year Quality Meat Scotland is getting butchers ready for what could be a bumper season.

Members of the Scotch Butchers Club, QMS's club for butchers that stock and promote Scotch Beef, Scotch Lamb and Specially Selected Pork, are all being sent a new seasonal point of sale pack containing the latest hot summer recipes that their customers will just love to take outside.

The new recipes focus on simple salads and stir-frys and are quick to prepare and ideal for summer dining.

June Lomax, independent retailer manager for QMS, said: "These delicious, easy to cook recipes have been carefully selected to help people make the tastiest meals possible from Scotch Beef, Scotch Lamb and Specially Selected pork this summer."

The recipes range from the spicy Warm Chilli Beef, Chicory and Avocado Salad to a sophisticated Salad of Lamb, Red Onion and Rocket. It also features some dishes that enable you to be creative with your leftovers, with the Roast Beef, Beetroot and Orange Salad being a tasty solution.

"Whether it's a quick meal or an all day barbeque with friends and family, these recipes are easy to prepare and will have everyone asking for more.

"No one wants to waste time slaving in the kitchen when the sun is out, so most of these new recipes can be whipped up in just quarter of an hour and are a great light option for any day of the week."

The new point of sale pack featuring seasonal posters and the new recipe books are being sent to all 350 current members of the Scotch Butchers Club throughout the UK.
