Perthshire Grazing Group
Alex Brewster, in partnership with his parents Alastair and Morag, runs 3200 hectares of upland and hill near Dunkeld. Rotmell is the home unit of 1000ha and is farmed on a tenancy from Atholl Estates; the remaining 2,200 hectares is managed on contract or as seasonal lets on neighbouring units.
Rotmell is home to the suckler herd of 130 Angus cows and heifers, plus 800 performance recorded Blackface ewes. The cows are calved in both spring and autumn, and calves are sold both store and finished. All lambs are finished on the unit on forage crops or grass.
The farm has good in-bye ground where Alex has already invested in electric fencing and where both the sheep and cattle are being rotationally grazed.
